Privacy policy
Last updated 12 October 2026
This policy explains what Nowvibe collects, why, who sees it and what you can do about it, under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Nowvibe is run by Mohd Ali Mohiuddin (“we”), who decides how this data is used.
What we collect
- From Google, when you sign in: your name, email address and profile photo.
- What you add: the name friends see, your picture or emoji, your message link if you add one, your vibes, reactions and replies, friends and friend requests, group links you make or join, waves, introductions, blocks and reports.
- Check-ins: how your day is going, once a day. Only you ever see your moods.
- Settings: your time zone, check-in time, theme, and notification and privacy choices.
- Activity: when you last had Nowvibe open, for “Active now”. You can turn it off in Me.
- Notifications: an address for each device where you turn notifications on, so we can send them.
- Payments: the plan, amount and date, and PayU's payment ID. To take a payment, we give PayU your name and email address. PayU handles your card, UPI and bank details; we never see them.
Your browser also keeps your sign-in and a few preferences (like your theme and sounds) on your device. Nowvibe has no ads in it, and there are no advertising cookies unless you come from one of our ads on Google (see Our ads, below).
Why we use it
- To run Nowvibe: showing your vibe to your friends, sending notifications and check-in reminders, and counting Glow and streaks.
- To keep it safe: limits on how often things can be done, blocks, reports and filtered requests.
- To take payments for Nowvibe Plus and keep the records the law requires.
- To answer you when you write to us.
- To see which of our ads on Google bring people who sign up.
We don't sell your data, and nothing you do in Nowvibe is used for advertising. The most an ad ever learns is that someone who tapped it signed up.
Who sees what
- Your friends see your name, picture, vibes, the reactions you send them, “Active now” if it's on, and your message link if you share it with them.
- Friends of friends, only if you turn on “Show me to friends of friends”, see an emoji or a letter, your vibe and the friends you share. Never your name or photo, unless you both wave and become friends.
- Anyone with a link you shared or joined, even before signing in. Your own invite link shows your name, picture and current vibe. A group link you're in shows your name, the emoji you picked and your vibe if it's Free to hang, Call me, Gaming, Chilling or Focus mode, never your photo or note. A group link stops working after a week.
- Only you see your moods, email address, settings and payments.
Services we use
These handle data for us, only to provide their service:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and server functions. Your data is stored on its servers in Singapore.
- Google: sign-in.
- PayU: payments.
- Your browser's push service (Google, Apple, Microsoft or Mozilla): delivering notifications.
- Our web host: serving this website.
We also share data when the law requires it, for example a lawful request from a court or the government.
If you come from one of our ads, Google gets some data too: see the next section.
Our ads on Google
We advertise Nowvibe on Google. If you come to this site by tapping one of those ads, it loads the Google tag, a tool from Google. It tells Google two things: that you came from the ad, and, if you make an account within 30 days, that you signed up. That's how we see which ads work.
- What Google gets: your IP address and browser details, the address of the page (which includes a code for the ad you tapped), and cookies it keeps on this site to remember that code. Google can connect this to your Google account if you were signed in to Google when you tapped the ad.
- What it never gets: your name, email address, photo, vibes, friends, moods, or anything else you do in Nowvibe.
- Not for other ads: we turn ad personalisation off, so Google doesn't use this to choose the ads it shows you.
- Who it's for: only people who come from one of our ads. If you come any other way, the Google tag never loads.
Google uses this under its own privacy policy. To keep it from Google, open getnowvibe.com yourself instead of through an ad, or turn on your browser's tracking protection. This site also remembers on your device, for up to 30 days, that you came from an ad, so a sign-up in that time counts.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account (Me > Account > Delete account), your profile, vibes, friends, moods and everything else linked to it are deleted straight away. Two things stay, without your account attached: payment records, for as long as tax and accounting laws require, and reports you made about someone else. Copies in backups are replaced over time.
Your rights
- See the data we hold about you, and how it's used.
- Correct it. You can change most of it yourself in Me.
- Delete it, by deleting your account or by asking us.
- Withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account. This doesn't undo what happened before.
- Name someone to use these rights for you if you die or can't.
- Complain to our Grievance Officer (below), and then to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
Nowvibe is for people 13 and over. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to you using Nowvibe. If you're a parent and think your child is using Nowvibe without your permission, contact us and we'll delete the account.
Security
Everything travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and the database only lets each person see what the app shows them.
Changes
When this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top, and let you know if the change is important.
